Your hosts, Jamie Oatt and Monica Walsh first came to Parrsboro to visit childhood friends in 2000. This was shortly after Monica, a trained opera singer, left the cast of Phantom of the Opera in Toronto and fell in love with the town and its surroundings. This historic Victorian home built in 1890 happened to come on the market in the winter of 2001. Looking for a new challenge, Jamie and Monica decided to purchase the home with the intention of starting a Bed & Breakfast, running it primarily in the summer as Jamie is a music teacher, Monica a professional singer. Monica was born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and wanted to reconnect with her roots. The town is full of artistically minded people and they felt drawn to this incredibly welcoming community. Jamie is also an avid golfer so having a golf course on the Bay of Fundy 10 minutes away was a no-brainer.
They have operated the B & B since the summer of 2001 and look forward to many more years serving the community of Parrsboro, the many tourists to the area and supporting the many arts initiatives, including the renowned Ships's Company Theatre.
Monica has been known to sing for the guests at breakfast when she's in good voice! Jamie plays trumpet - so a bugler's call for a morning wakeup can be arranged! ; )
